Why is it better to book using this website?
We are not a travel agent, or travel company. The Irish Riviera is set up to allow the actual accommodation owners to advertise and sell directly to you. In doing so we want to maintain your security and privacy, so we have selected two booking systems to handle the bookings and then pay the accommodation owners. In this way we have acheived...

  1. Savings
We do not add any agency commission. You pay the 'owner direct' prices only.
  2. Convenience
You can reserve, book and pay online with a credit or debit card
  3. Safety
You have the assurance of credit card protection
  4. Security
Our systems are secure. Credit card systems are encrypted, and safe to use online.

    Who are Avvio?
We have selected Avvio to provide the main* booking systems for our Hotel, B&B and Guesthouse owners. The Avvio system in very widely used, is very secure and easy to use. Hundreds of hotels take thousands of bookings on the Avvio system.

*We use the Avvio system to provide secure booking for the main Hotels and Guesthouses in The Irish Riviera. But many guests want hotels across Ireland, and we provide secure booking for these too via affiliate links into the secure systems of Hotelnet and Accomline.

The remainder of this FAQ concentrates mostly upon Villarenters self catering bookings and not on the Avvio system.

    Who are Villarenters?
For Self-Catering guests the Avvio system does not offer the flexibility to cover all of the pricing options and special offers we need, therefore we use Villarenters. Villarenters are a software company based in the UK who have developed best in class software to allow guests to book self catering holidays, holidays that are advertised by the individuals who own the properties. Self catering holidays booked with a credit card from this website will be booked via the Villarenters systems. Details on how this works follows below.

What is the booking procedure for self catering?
Make a booking request - our property owners are alerted by email, and will either accept or decline your booking. Our property owners require their customers to pay a deposit on booking followed by the balance prior to taking occupation. Most will also ask for a breakages deposit at the same time. The exact amounts and timing will depend on the individual property owner.

How do I see the booking terms for self catering ?
On the availability calendar of each property is a blue button marked 'view booking terms'. Or you can get a detailed quote with payment terms using the booking calendar

What happens when I make a booking request for self catering ?
The property owner immediately gets sent an email alerting him/her of your request. They will check your details and their availability and either confirm or decline your booking request. You are not making a firm booking at first (it is, after all, a request). However your request will reserve the property for a number of hours in anticipation of your booking, and prevent other users from booking the same period.

What happens after my booking request is confirmed for self catering?
An email will be sent to you with a link so that you can pay the deposit on your booking in the Villarenters secure credit card payment area. You will then be sent reminders when your balance and security deposit is due to be paid. If its a late booking you may need to pay the balance and breakages deposit at the same time as your booking deposit.

I made a booking request but I received no reply what should I do?
Some property owners are quicker at replying than others - we send out a reminder after 24 hours. But you can call The Irish Riviera directly, on +353 24 20634, we know all the owners and will expedite the matter for you.

Am I committed when I make a booking request?
No, the contract does not begin until you pay for your deposit.

Can I contact the property owner before I make a booking?
Yes, you can use the 'Contact owner' button. BUT please check price and availability using the booking calendar first, its the quickest way to get the details you need.

When do I pay for my accommodation?
After the property owner has confirmed your booking you will be sent an email with a link to the secure payment area.

    Who is my contract with?
Your contract is with the property owner as stated in the terms and conditions of the property.

Can I make a provisional booking?
Once you make a booking request nobody else can book the property using the Villarenters booking system. After confirmation the member will give you a certain amount of time to make the booking deposit payment. This will depend on the individual property owner. You will see this information when you make a booking request.

How do I get a price quote and check availability?
Make a booking request - our property owners are alerted by email, and will either accept or decline your booking. Our property owners require their customers to pay a deposit on booking followed by the balance prior to taking occupation. Most will also ask for a breakages deposit at the same time. The exact amounts and timing will depend on the individual property owner.

I have paid my deposit when do I get directions and key collection instructions?
When you have paid the balance and breakages deposit you will receive instructions with your payment advice.

Can The Irish Riviera answer questions about the properties?
Usually yes, we have visited most , if not all of the properties and can handle many enquiries about them. Detailed questions about the property should be directed to the property owner.

Can MyVillarenters answer questions about the properties?
No. Villarenters do not personally inspect the properties - all questions about the property should be directed to the property owner.

    Can I pay by cheque?
You can by contacting the owner direct. However you are better off using a debit card which is more convenient, safer and quicker and amounts to the same thing as a cheque.

    Buyer beware
The danger of booking any accommodation online is that it’s difficult to be sure of what you are getting and it’s normal to pay for your accommodation in advance. All the properties on The Irish Riviera are advertisments. Procing and availability is in the control of the advertiser. We do NOT inspect the property or guarantee the accuracy of the information, but we do check each website before adding it The Irish Riviera for any obvious anomalies in the description and pricing.

    Customer reviews
Hotels and Guesthouses receive regular independent reviews and gradings, but thi sis much harder to do for self catreing peroprties. Therefore each customer that books a self catering holidays through our systems is invited to add a review of the property and give it a star rating. By choosing a property with several starred reviews you can be confident that you are getting a great property, independently verified by previous customers.

But do remember that a low ranking property does not mean a bad property, it just means we don’t know too much about it, it could be new to our listsings.

    Who your contract is with
Your contract is always with the property owner/manager not with The Irish Riviera. Your payment may appear on your card statement as Villarenters or Avvio but your contract is with the accommodation supplier
