The Penthouse
The Penthouse is THE select apartment in the Harveys Dock development of new self-contained holiday homes.
Sited on the corner of the development, on the top floor, you'll have sweeping dual aspect views from the huge balcony. Looking directly out onto and along the unspoilt Blackwater River valley to the mountains beyond lismore, and round to the sea, the beaches and lighthouse.

Harveys Dock is sited right in the centre of Youghal, between the two fishermen's quays. This development of 34 quality apartments, has private parking and onsite management. There are no lifts in the development. The Shops, Restauarants, Pubs and facilities of the historic town of Youghal are just yards away.

Youghal
Youghal is a most historic and interesting town situated at the mouth of the Blackwater River, one of Ireland's best known salmon fishing rivers.

Youghal renowned for its Blue Flag beaches, and is a favourite seaside destination. There is no shortage of outdoor and indoor activities for all age groups. Fishing trips and leisure boats are readily available for hire. There are many attractive picnic areas and scenic drives in and around Youghal including Fota Wildlife Park, House and Arboretum, Blarney Castle, Lismore, Ballycotton and of course Cork City.

You can enjoy beautiful beaches, sailing, canoeing and boating, wind-surfing, a magnificent 18-hole golf course and pitch and putt, 4 hard-court tennis courts, greyhound racing, guided Heritage walking tours, excellent restaurants, and nightly entertainment of Irish music, cinema, or sing and dance in hospitable pubs.

Youghal is a very historic town, much of the 800 year walls still stand. As does the impressive clock gate - a four story tower that straddles the main route into the town. Sir Walter Raleigh was once a resident, and its said he introduced the potato to Ireland here. One of the daily walking tours is a must, and they leave from the Tourist office that is less than 100 yards from the Penthouse.

The food and hospitality
Youghal is famed for its seafood, caught and landed locally in the small town quay.

Locally caught and smoked wild salmon is always available. But many other specialities come and go with the seasons. Take care to ask about the specials that day.

There are an array of restaurants catering for all tastes from the traditional to the exotic. The finest restaurant in town (and Ireland) is Aherne's the famous seafood restaurant - no visit to Youghal would be complete without dining in Aherne's at least once. : www.ahernes.com

The dual aspect views of the Blackwater river, Youghal harbour and the sea, are simply spectacular. The Penthouse is beautifully decorated throughout, to make it an ideal holiday retreat for a small family group or the base for a visiting VIP on a business trip. The Penthouse is usually self -catering, but meals can be arranged from the famous Aherne's Restaurant - as the The Penthouse is owned by the same family.

"The apartment was beautiful and spacious with wonderful views. We enjoyed watching the cormerants fishing in the bay whilst cooking breakfast and our two teenage boys were entertained by the football on Eurosport tv. The modern apartments seemed a little out of place in the traditional Irish town but once inside that didn't matter. The Penthouse has the best views, a large balcony and a real homely feel. It made an excellent base for touring the area and for the many walks we had along the beach."

"Well set out and furnished apartment with wonderful views. More like staying in a hotel, but without the service. Owner is a hotelier and it shows in the thought that has gone into the apartment."

"The property was very good, the only draw back was that there are no lifts to the property and as my parents are elderly they found the stairs to be difficult at times. However, the appartment and its location with the fantasic views and surroundings compensated the stairs. It would have been nice to have been made aware of the stairs beforehand. We would definately recommend and definately choose to stay there again. "

"The property enjoys an excellent location with spectacular views. It does require some minor maintenance-otherwise very comfortable."

"A very comfortable apartment with great views of the harbour and the estuary. Very relaxing sitting on the balcony watching the fisherman landing their catches and the yachts entering and leaving their moorings. Well located for shops and restaurants, but very little noise from traffic or people."

"We have a baby aged just 7months and knew we would be spending alot of time indoors in the evenings, for which we had 3 main aims: comfort, cleanliness and luxery which were definatley ALL met. Youghall is a fantastic village in an ideal spot for visiting other places both East, West and inland. This appartment is by far in the best location you could possibly want with exceptional views. If we were to critisise anything it would be that the TV channels were too limited and only recieved 4 english speaking channels that were watchable RTE1, RTE2, CNN, Eurosport."

"On arriving at the property we were very pleasantly surprised after having had a ferry cancelled and all of us being very tired. It was much better and far nicer than we could ever have expected. The website doesn't do the property justice. We found the owner more than helpful and wouldn't hesitate in returning to the property."

"The Penthouse is well decorated and the view is spectacular. It was clean and comfortable and we wouldn't hesitate to send our friends. Thank you!"

"We stayed in the middle of March, which obviously ensured that the weather was pretty bleak, but the property, area and owners more than compensated. It can get a bit windy on the top deck, but the apartment was well-presented, clean and spacious. The facilities were great, everything you need under one roof, and it was cosy and warm at all times. We bumped into the owners on the last night in their famous Ahernes restaurant, and they were polite and friendly over and above the call of duty. The food in the restaurant is first class and the hospitality of the Ahernes second to none. Thoroughly recommended for couples or young families who want a relaxing break amongst beautiful scenery."

"We stayed at the Penthouse in Youghal for the New Year, The views were spectacular and the whole appartment was very comfortable and spacious. The furnishings were very tasteful and the lighting created a lovely atmosphere in the evening. We even had a beautiful Christmas tree. It is a lovely place to stay and explore Youghal and further afield. We had the indendence of our own place and yet 5 minutes walk away we had the hotel facilities and wonderful food in the restaurant. An ideal location."

"The Penthouse is a beautiful apartment with an incredible view of the river and ocean. It is very well taken care of and beautifully decorated. The owner of The Penthouse greeted us with homemade brown bread and took excellent care of us during our stay. She went out of her way to help us to communicate with our newly discovered Irish cousins so that we could meet each other. Visitors interested in renting the apartment should be aware that it is on the 4th floor with no elevator. By the end of our stay we were running up and down the steps. I would highly recommend this property."

"We have stayed in many different types of holiday
accomodation but this was definately one of the best. The area was great and there were many well priced restaurants and pubs in the town
