Shopping in Youghal's ancient town centre
The charming shopping centre of Youghal is still to the plan of its medieval streets and buildings that were originally laid out in the 13th century. 600 hundred years ago this was the finest shopping street in all Ireland.

Today there are a good selection of speciality stores to be found on the one shopping street, which runs from around the 17th century clock tower along to Tyntes castle at the other end. Notable highlights are Collins master bakers, Twomey's the free range master butcher, O'Dwyers fashionable shoe shop, Just Add Water (tickets for river boat trips, great for wetsuits and other nautical items), The Priory delicatessen and Liz Vereker's unique jewellery shop 'Sassy'. Don't miss the Youghal Tourism Office shop too, next to the town quay and clock tower - it's stocked with useful information, maps, post cards and gifts.

Every Friday (and sometimes Saturday too) there is a Farmers produce market besides the clock tower. It's a popular venue for the freshest local produce, specialist foods stuffs and unique gifts.

Local produce, craft stores, electronics, DIY, a few boutiques, a department store and some very Irish stores that belie normal categories are to be found. Your daily needs are well catered for, with a number of supermarkets, including a brand new and very well stocked Tesco supermarket on the edge of the town centre, close to Lidl.

There are two or three well stocked local supermarkets in the town too. Close to the lighthouse there is a Spar, close to the main strand beach you'll find Centra, and there's a CostCutter on Cork hill. You'll find all your provisions here, and each of them bakes their own bread and make great sandwiches too.

You can also gain access to the internet, at Youghal's own Cyberoom internet cafe.
